Volunteers
Welcome to the Lake Braddock Orchestra Boosters! The success of our orchestras depends on many parent and student volunteers. Our volunteers are comprised of busy parents balancing work, family, and volunteer commitments, as well as our young musicians. Many hands DO make light and fun work!
Throughout the school year, the LBOB Volunteer Coordinator will send out requests for volunteers. We encourage all parents and students to sign up to help in whatever way you can. Students, this is a great way to earn your service hours every year!
Instructions for Submitting Service Hours
Students can earn service hours for volunteering at concerts, bake sales and other orchestra events. Additionally, time spent on baking for our bake sale fundraisers counts for service hours, so students should make sure to keep track of the hours spent baking and preparing items for sale.
Submitting hours for approval is easy:
- Sign into Naviance Student which can be accessed by visiting www.fcps.edu/naviance.
- Click on the x2VOL link under “Resources to Get Ready” located at the bottom right of your screen in Naviance Student (image on next page). Click “Continue.”
- The first time you access x2VOL, you will need to complete your x2VOL profile. Then you can go directly to your Dashboard to find opportunities and log your hours.
- Select the Opportunities & Projects tab.
- Select the option to Create a New project and give it a name related to the orchestra event for which you are volunteering.
2. Add Hours to the project for the volunteer work you did. Make sure you write a description of what you did. For example, “Baking for Orchestra Concert Bake Sale.” - In the Activity Contact fields, it is important that you enter the LBOB Volunteer Coordinator’s name and email address:
Roger Hughlett
[email protected] - Submit your hours to get approved.
